Tonight USA Network aired NCIS episode 'Skeletons'. In this episode, Abby is really depressed. Everyone is concerned about her. She isn't the normal bubbly Abby who always has music playing and spouts an infectious optimism. Instead, her lab is silent, and she is acting more like Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. The team tries to find out what is wrong to no avail. When Gibbs stops by to find out what she has learned about the case, after she tells him what she has found, he just stands and stares at Abby. He says nothing, but Abby spills her guts. At the end of the scene, after Gibbs still has said nothing, Abby hug him and says 'Thanks Gibbs. You always know what to say."
On occasion I have days like Abby had in that episode. I like to call them 'rainy days & Mondays' (from the song by The Carpenters). We all deal with rainy days & Mondays differently. But thanks to Abby, I now have a better way to deal with them. Forget the self-help books, Dr. Phil, a psychiatrist, or medication. All I have to do is put an NCIS dvd on, pause it when Gibbs is on screen and spill my guts. When I am done, I can then turn to the screen and say 'Thanks Gibbs. You always know what to say!" I bet that will make me feel just as good as any of the other options I have tried in the past to get over the rainy days & Mondays blues. It can't hurt.
One way NCIS had helped me cope in real life.

NCIS 'From the Beginning' Marathon on USA Network
One of my favorite things about USA Network is their NCIS marathons. I also love their original programming, but I'll save that for another time. Today USA is showing NCIS 'From the Beginning', starting with Season 1 Episode 1, Yankee White at 11am, continuing until 11pm tonight. Too bad they couldn't include the original introduction of NCIS, the two parter from JAG season 8, Ice Queen and Meltdown. My favorite episode from the list below is Yankee White, or maybe Marine Down, or possibly My Left Foot..... it is so hard to pick just one. I them all!
Why?
Why would I consider creating a blog when I barely have enough time to get everything I need to get accomplished. The answer is simple. NCIS has given me an escape from the busy ordinary grind of life. When I get to put my observations and opinions about my favorite escapism into words, it gives me a mental recharge that is needed and welcome.
So, this is a start. I am not sure how often I will post, or what exactly I will post, but it will all have NCIS at the center. I hope this will evolve into something interesting for someone. I will put a warning out: I tend to be sarcastic at times, and I rarely take things too seriously. I know there are NCIS fans that are fanatical about certain characters and relationships. I am not one of those. But I will poke fun at those points of views on a regular basis.
Thanks for checking this space out!
